Art about Technology
As most people, I feel ambivalent about using technology: love and hate it. At an artist's residency at Spring House in Amsterdam, I had an opportunity to dive into these feelings, that Sherry Turkle, MIT social scientist described that we are losing our ability to relate to each other, to talk and listen with full attention, losing our ability to be alone and connect with our inner self. I conducted a research with over 150 participants and produced an interactive project, which asks people to squeeze their feelings about communication into a soft clay replica of their iPhones. I photographed the results with their commentary below. The archive as well as the interactive project are available to bring to new communities to further explore feelings about this important topic.
